That is hard to say in your case. I've never meet a liberal who did not care; but not enough to give their own time and money. I've yet to meet a conservative who was not willing to give his own time money to help someone in need.
You have to be in a "give a f'k" position to understand how you will react. If you are the average liberal you will demand the government spend other people's money on the problem; and feel good, regardless of the results.

I actually believe that everyone has a shared responsibility to uphold a state and it's functions, they are there to serve the people not to perpetuate themselves.. To uphold this idea of a state you need taxes, which is basically a sacrifice or payment if you will that you get to live in a free and functioning society where you get to choose your own leaders and the issues that needs solving.
I do not however believe that you should get away with not paying taxes just because you feel like it, or because you don't want to contribute to the idea of the state.
People who does not want to pay taxes are in my book no more then traitors, if you don't want to pay to live in my nation.. fine just leave, people seem to like it here. This does not mean that the state should tax the people to death, but enough to uphold civilization.
and believe you me I pay more taxes then you x 2 ever will, and I do it gladly and for those that don't want to well they are free to leave and live in a country like say America which is falling apart because you spend to much and tax to little, enjoy your failing state I can't hear it crumbling over the sound of how awesome the Socialistic democracy of Sweden is.
