We should have some of these dudes deputized, walking around in plain clothes, with full permission to kick the crap out of anyone they catch in commission of a violent felony.
Rig 'em with cameras so it is clear what they stopped was justified.

Thankfully he really was the good guy and capable. Also thankfully he wasn't more seriously injured by the knife. Many of us whether we will admit it or not might have gotten killed by intervening in that situation.

He was damned lucky actually. A knife changes everything.
Still, seeing a goon being pummeled by a world champion professional fighter is gratifying. I just wish that show "bully beatdown' wasn't fixed.

I mean people on payroll, with the prosecutor on their side when the lawsuits start, with medical coverage from the state in case something goes wrong.
Essentially cops without the BS ticket writing and other duties. Just paid to wander around crime areas, watch for problems, and beat the crap (or shoot) anyone caught in the commission of a violent crime.
I'm willing to be violent crime would go way, way down once the bad guys can't text each other that a cop car is around the corner and they need to bug out.

They never are justified. And real thugs would kill guys like this.
Mike tyson is a good examle, he was scared in prison.
