Obama doubled down. I am moved and unmoved by his words. All politicians hypnotize us, by saying the things we want hear. It's the wizard's first rule. Obama has his ideology. It is not as progressive as what I would like to see. Still, the rhetoric, and I stress the word rhetoric, draws a bright line difference between him and whomever the Republicans decide upon. Count me as a vote for Obama. It is important to listen. Whether you did or not is up to you. We all have our own priorities.
You just cant want to go back to the bad old days.

I found Obama's speech underwhelming and the Republican response even worse.
The Dems need to focus votes on specific issues.
Raise capital gains taxes, Yay or Nay.
Extend the payroll tax cut for a year, yay or nay.
Etc.

Fist's insights as usual are myopic and pointless. That said, I like the part where Obama wants to take half of the "savings" from ending the Iraq war and use it to pay down the debt.

I can't really keep these talking points straight. Is Obamacare nothing, or is it the greatest threat to our nation in its history?
