This is amusing. Seems like the resident partisans are affected by that comment.

I am pretty sure Corky is a self professed democrat. That's the problem when you label someone because of one issue. It happens a lot here.

I can't tell you how many times I've been called a conservative, liberal, republican, democrat, RWN, LWN, and/or racist here depending on the issue and who is doing the calling.

I wonder if the amount of money collected in taxes and the money saved in prosecution and housing of people convicted of marijuana related crimes would be enough to put a dent California's budget woes.

There is no reason for it to be illegal. Some people want a drink after work, some prefer a harmless joint. Marijuana is a perfect example of government having to much control over what we choose to do in our own homes, with our own bodys, in our own lives. Marijuana being a safer more controlled buzz then alcohal is a shitty argument, freedom is a better one.

I cherry picked videos...I'm sure I could find videos whehe governor of the Hawaii has done something similar. You're statement was completed stupid when there are people on both sides who will never agree on legalizing drugs. The State of California voted down a marijuana law recently, one would think it would pass in a state the blue.

A bit of a misguided statement, but not surprising. There are multiple reasons why the law didn't pass, and its not just because people don't want it legalized. There is no incentive for anyone who already legally grows marijuana in California to vote for legalization.

I think they should decriminalize it regardless.

It would save money here. Bail for a person who is arrested for pot <10 grams is $120. Make it a ticket and save the paperwork, the clogging of the court system, jails, etc.
However drinking in public is an arrestable offence here too. And people wonder where all our tax dollars go
