Although I had a bit of lettuce/spinach on hand I have ordered the following items (from mypatriotsupply dot com). I used this site because they package in high quality containers that are better than the usual paper envelopes and also they give a LOT of seed for the cost. All of their seeds are GMO free. I have started some lettuce inside for a goof (and because hey, I wanted to plant SOMETHING, lol).

Remember, lettuce and spinach go in/on the ground on Valentine's Day! (if there's snow just sow it directly on there, it'll be ok)


Bean (Bush): Blue Lake Green Bean (2oz, 150 seeds) $2.19
Beets: Detroit Dark Red (5g, 260 seeds) $1.97 ***
Carrot: Danvers 1/2 Long (1g, 800 seeds) $1.97
Corn: Golden Bantam Yellow Sweet Corn (2oz, 250 seeds) $2.19
Cucumber: Straight Eight (4g, 140 seeds) $1.97
Lettuce: Black Seeded Simpson Leaf Lettuce (1g, 900 seeds) $1.97
Onion: Red Burgundy (500mg, 145 seeds) $1.97
Pea: Lincoln Shell Sweet Pea (1OZ, 100 seeds) $1.97
Pepper: California Wonder Bell (500mg, 70 seeds) $1.97
Tomato: Beefsteak (500mg, 180 seeds) $1.97
Watermelon: Sugar Baby (3g, 75 seeds) $2.19
Zucchini: Black Beauty Summer Squash (5g. 50 seeds) $1.97


***beets purchased at the request of a cousin who doesn't have time to garden.

We have a nice sized yard and zero gardening tools. If I had to cut a blade of grass I'd need to use my office scissors.

You should consider some raised beds. You can make them pretty cheaply.

Here is a site dedicated to "square foot gardening", which is what really got me into this years ago.

Growing season starts for me in late September/early October. My garden has done really crappy this year
Last year I had tons of stuff. This year barely any lettuce and my tomatoes have been awful.

Taking this year off and composting to revitalize the soil. Most of it anyways, not all. They can only take my fresh cilantro over my dead body.
