That's not F2P, that's an extended demo. Even WoW started doing the same thing, didn't they?

Actually most of these free to play games don't die, they maintain a small but healthy community of diehards.

From what I understand Rift is doing modestly well. This is just an inevitable and common MMO business decision.
DAOC should have done this long ago but their revenue is so low, they cannot afford the development to convert it to a FTP model. Sad how Mythic ran the best MMO ever into the ground.

Sweet, I'm actually going to roll now and play it. I thought the game was really fun, I just couldn't get myself to re sub.. But if I can play for free I'll dick around the low levels with a few noob friends of mine
