I agree it's a hoax, but elephants are so heavy that they can't stride like other animals do, so their legs walk pretty much the same way human legs do.
Also when any leg is bearing weight that leg will be perfectly straight. If it tries to bend while supporting the weight, it'll snap like a twig.
