Repubs try to fit a bunch of disparate ideologies into a massive, all powerful, and to big to fail, uber tent of conformity.
Silly really, but they are scared to death of looking as ineffectual and weak as the Dems. Can't say I blame them.

The Dems are just as disparate.
You can't remotely fit all people into just two parties and then have all people be represented.

Dems embrace the fact that they have a wide variety of opinions and characters in their party.
They embrace it so much...that they never do a god damn thing unless someone forces them too....which actually makes them the party best suited for the "conservatives" to endorse.
