That's most peoples reactions. I think I watched it five times before I got it all in. The first time it's a normal story with some twists that also has some very interesting weird things that make no sense. The second time you basically focus on the weird things trying to figure out what they mean. At some point I started realizing the weird stuff are all cryptic clues about the nature of the main story.
Then I got it and was shocked at the brilliance of whoever put this movie together. Really masterful and like nothing I've ever seen. The movie is just a small part of what the producers were doing. The thoughts that go through people's minds when trying to figure out what it was about are part of the experience. The movie is sort of a seed that gives you a sort of guided tour of every humans worst fear and our most powerful questions. I also love the fact that folks who don't get interested in the weird stuff, which unlocks an entire different level of viewing/philosophical exploration, still get to see a good movie.
