This is a really, really stupid statement.
The only rights a person has are the ones they can enforce. If you do not have the strength/power to enforce it, then see how long your "inherent right" lasts for you. 
My favorite example is the dumbass pedestrian analogy. By most state laws, pedestrians inherently have the "right of way" when crossing the street. I.E. cars must stop for pedestrians (usually in designated crosswalk areas.).
Step your moron ass out in front of a car traveling at 60 MPH and see how well that "inherent right" works out for you

Did you really think that through?
Here's the thing, there is no way to increase the power of the government when your party is in control without leaving that power in place for the other side to use next time they are in charge. If you don't want the other side abusing their power then you need to advocate for less government power all the time.
Try a little long term thinking. It may lead you to some new conclusions.
