Didn't we almost have it all with the national anthem if that counts as #2
regardless she was an amazing type of talent that we haven't seen since...her live performances were unreal...it was a tragedy that she discovered crack

Such a loss to the music world
She was a gifted but very flawed person

I chose I will always love you, but had her singing of the national anthem been a choice, I would have picked that instead.

I chose I Will Always Love You but A) the national anthem should've been an option and B) tbh that's Dolly Parton's song.

In 1986 the future Mrs. Bonzo was working as a lifeguard at a summer camp and I was getting ready to leave after a visit. The buses with the kids for that week showed up and the whole staff was standing there waiting for them singing The Greatest Love of All, it is something I still remember clearly.

Whitney sang it and Dolly won the Grammy. I thought that was kinda funny at the time.
It was an amazing performance but I scored it lower because it wasn't an original. I left the national anthem off because not only was it not original, she didn't even record it. You're right though. It was easily one of the top 5 renditions I've ever heard of the national anthem.

she did record it...and it went on to be a top selling single that year....and iirc the only person to have a rendition of the national anthem go platinum
