Why can't the Chinese make buildings that can withstand an earthquake? They obviously have the intelligence, are they bereft of materials or just lazy?

It was prolly only a 4.2 at that...
There is a reason stuff that is made in China is so cheap. It's not just that they are so starved they will work for bowls of rice, it's that the crap they make is about as low a quality as you can mass produce...

you can build good houses for 1,000 or shitty ones for 10,000,000
At least its not like white people where 40,000 of them die if temperatures go up by like 5 degrees.
