When the series is called the Wheel of Time, that should give you a clue.
I stopped reading around book 5. Someone post a summary of how the story ends, please.

Lews Therin killed everyone around him, then went crazy and blew himself up, too, tainting Saidar or whatever it's called in the process. Unless the books have already progressed to the point where Saidar is no longer tainted, they can't really end at the beginning...at least not exactly.
