p.s. the US has only had like 4 real peace years. and more than likely that is all the peace years for recroded history....people just suck and want other people shit.

You dont stay on top by being charitable - just as in business, you destoy the little man, take cntrol by scale, reduce others options, etc..
Thats how things work, the guy at top has to break a lot of heads and hurt a lot of feelings - and staying on top is a lot of work too, you have to make sure the competition is never really going to have a chance.
So with that said, every super power crushed all their competitors and had a reign of terror until they couldnt keep it up. The USSR, japan, germany, and england come to mnd as recent terrors upon the earth - only the US has stayed standing. New ones will emerge unless the US keeps up the domination.
