Its funny when a futuristic SciFi movie outdates itself.
Blade Runner is set in 2019, only 7 years from now.
They have flying cars, but their TVs are CRTs and their computers are Commodore 64/Apple II
So in 2019 we have flying cars but we havent advanced to LED technology and anything better than a 8088 microprocessor?
Sci-fi writers create a setting that's supposedt to look&feel believable, based on varying degrees of research and educated guesses, but mostly the focus is on the concept and artistic part.
They don't ACTUALLY predict the future.

I mean seriously, considering he was the best he got his ass kicked by every single replicant except Rachel!!!
And she had to save his ass from Leon!!!
I imagine the difference between a good blade runner and a bad one is, the bad ones are dead. Decker got his reputation because he had never failed. It may have been ugly, there might have been some long hospital stays, but he always managed to whack the skin-job.

It's in the tradition of all great film noir: the protagonist always doubles as a punching bag.

he didn't know he was a replicant himself - his limitations were all in his android mind.

Deckard being a replicant is one of the dumbest theories ever. The story would have no meaning whatsoever if that were the case.

I'm watching the movie right now. First time I've seen it in years. Not as great as I remember it being...or maybe I'm just in a bad mood.

In the book he is not a replicant.
In the movie, he is.... according to Ridley Scott: http://www.brmovie.com/FAQs/BR_FAQ_Deck-a-Rep.htm

The fact that he was inferior at fighting was what made him heroic. The fact that he put himself in the situation at all is what made him good at his job.

Also, the movie is far superior when you cut out the stupid narration, especially the end part.

Its my #1 movie of all times. Saw it 30+ times, and each
time I find something I missed previously
