The only reason gas prices continue to go up is......they can get away with selling it for whatever they want.
Demand is down, supply is adequate, no reason for price to go up....but it does. Hell, we are even exporting gas these days. We make more in the US than we use, oil prices are up though 
Oh yeah, tons of money out there that has to be invested in something, and commodities are big right now. Speculation and profits are a normal part of our financial system....maybe they shouldn't be eh?

If I had to rely on mass transit in my area I wouldn't be able to go anywhere or get anything done. Mass transit is a luxury that city dwellers are afforded because there are so many people crammed into such a small area. Us country folk don't get no stinkin' mass transit.
