I dont doubt Obama is a Christian. Mormons however arent Christians

I just cannot believe this man is a Christian. And are you saying Jesus wasn't intrusive? He walked up to people and spoke out to crowds of people saying that things were wrong. On top of that so were the prophets before him. He was not tolerant of falsehood at all in any form. While he loved them, he did not stand down or back down on the basis of hurting feelings or offending someone because of their personal beliefs, he spoke out openly against falsehood, and wrong in general and people hated him for it. Enough that they wanted to stone him on many occasions, even condemn him to death while he did nothing wrong. People often misunderstand Jesus(God) as thinking he was some timid weakling that couldn't hold his own. He was a man's man. And he spoke out openly against all the religious leaders, even the government of his time, his own people, strangers and people from other countries and other races, if it meant them knowing the truth and the possibility of coming to repentance. He didnt stop preaching or stop speaking publicly because people didnt like it. I have no shame in following in his footsteps. Even if that means being slandered or ridiculed by you or from every single person on this earth, I wont back down. I wont be ashamed, and I wont quit. Plain and simple.

Moe, in all honesty you can hate me with every ounce of your being, you can not like me and so can the rest here. It just doesn't and wont change anything. I still wont stop. But you can build a bridge, and get over it guy. Simple as that.

Jesus doesnt conform to the modern political ideals of liberalism or conservatism. He wasnt political at all. His message was one of love and compassion especially to the downtrodden in society.

I agree. He loved enough to tell the truth even though it hurt. Even though it meant his death, even on a cross. So yes, love above all else. But people mistake love for tolerance. Jesus never tolerated sin. While he forgave it, he always spoke against it. So what is the issue here? Obama says hes a christian, do we know for sure? Of course not. None of us know the man personally. But from the things he says, supports and does I cannot draw the conclusion that he is. I could be wrong. I dont disregard that possibility. But its my belief that he isnt.

He was not a revolutionary in a traditional sense and he wasnt a political religious leader like many of the Jewish rebels at the time.

He also was for submitting peacefully to the government even an evil one like Rome.

He doesnt conform to any modern political notion or any political notion at all.

The Sermon on the Mount and some of his other sayings are what he believed.

I believe a Christian can be liberal like Obama. Christianity is not liberal or conservative and its totally color blind

He was against violence. But not for the reason that you quoted from peter. Peter wanted to stop him from being crucified as the scriptures said. Which is why Jesus said "shall I not drink the cup my father has given me?" As Jesus said himself, had he said the word there would be thousands and thousands of angels that would fight for him. He wasn't here to start a revolution in that sense. But a kingdom that was not of this earth, as he spoke to pilate. Although there will be one here in the future. He spoke against the pharisees and the sadducees because they " put heavy burdens on people that they themselves could not do".

Obey the law, so long as it does not go against God's law. That is number one. Above all else. God's law trumps the law of the land (to believers) so obey God even if it means death. The sermon on the mount were some of his teachings yes. Christianity is technically politically neutral. But, on certain issues I dont see how one can be distinguished as Christian and yet be for lets say, killing babies. Or what some of you may just call fetus's. Or gay marriage, which the bible speaks against. I think that as Christians we have the right and responsibility to oppose such issues and I believe scripture backs that up. Thats my belief. It may differ from most here, but that wont stop me from voicing my view. It never has.
