But what if you hadn't? Then is it open season on the retrobaptizing?

They think they're doing your parent a favor. At worst, they're doing nothing at all except wasting their own time.
I am pretty sure if your parent's soul is still around somewhere they really wouldn't care, and who knows, they might be very grateful.
