In Iraq Saddam destroyed the WMDs but he didn't let inspecters verify this so he wouldn't lose face with his enemies in the Middle East and show weakness. The US and its leaders apparently are more simple minded and diect in their thinking and even now some of them still believe those WMDs are somewhere
This is why the US shouldn't meddle in situations it really doesn't understand
