Cruising video/CD stores and talking about bands, movies, etc I liked with other fans was a favorite past time when I was a bit younger.
Sad to see all that going away. All that remain in most areas are more sterile online venues.
It reduces the 'art and connection' value of entertainment that much further. It is becoming truly just a consumable.

Blockbuster is the model of failure in the corporate world. I have never seen such incompetence and lack of vision.

Yeah I should clarify.
Some of the coffee-shop, fan, gaming, and other social models for vid/dvd stores were pretty cool. Even the discount hunter stores with local fliers and occasional bands in the back playing at night.
Blockbuster, otoh, sucks syphilitic donkey balls.

Blockbuster was dead to me the day I moved to a town with a Family Video ten years ago. Now it is really really dead, along with Family Video.

I shopped there 20 years ago.
The last video store I shopped at was a Hollywood video years ago.

Yep, I see nothing but Blockbuster closed-closing signs. I was one of the few guys that used the stores about once every two months. I also still buy CDs.

We've had 5 close and one stay open. All the ones that are closing have "We are moving!" signs.
Yes, moving 6 stores into one.
