It's about sucking at providing a service people are willing and eager to pay for. If someone is willing to pay you for something today, but you wont deliver till next year, and they can get it for nothing right fricken now....you are an idiot if you bitch about them doing so.

iTunes, Amazon, and etc... have saved the music industry because of their ability to get the consumer the product quickly and at a decent price. People don't mind paying 99 cents for the one song they like, rather than paying $12 for 1 song that they like. Those services continue to generate a ton of money, even though the end user could pirate the songs.

HBO delivers top notch programming. Deadwood, The Sopranos, The Wire...I would feel like a slug if I stole from them.
Sure I had to wait. But I also got to keep my integrity intact and I don't have to tell myself some crappy story about how they didn't make it available soon enough.

I recorded them on my PC from my TV by playing them from Comcast On Demand, then burned the episodes to DVD. I'm a fair use pirate!
