Anyone own a Big Green Egg?

I just can't get past the price. The little one is almost $600.
We will be getting a new grill, but it will be both charcoal and gas. Gas for the burners.

I got a small gas portable grill for my place for $200 which seems to work pretty good

I've been reading that they last forever and have great customer service. I wouldn't mind shelling out the $800 if I know I'll have it for the next 10 years. I am intrigued by its supposed versatility: everything from 200 degree slow cooking for 14 hours, to 700 degrees for searing steaks, to cooking whole turkeys, to baking bread and pizzas. But I wouldn't mind getting some firsthand opinions first.
They are also supposedly easy to clean because of their ceramic interior, and one of the things I hate about metal grills is how nasty they get over time.

I want one, but I can built one myself for about a buck o five so buying one seems stupid.
all you need is some pottery, a electric heater, a thermometer and a small metal dish.
