Sometimes my company can be so stupid.

We have one travel site, supposed to save us money. Called to change a flight, one day. I'd like to fly the same flight, but leave Tue instead of Monday.
I call my company agency and they tell me it will cost $440.00 to make the change. I tell them they are out of their minds.
I call the airline direct and they do it for $150.00.
That agency isn't saving us jack diddly squat. They are overhead.
I have never done anything but save money by making my own arrangements. Which we do anyway since it's all online. If you have to call in and talk to a person they charge you $50 to actually do anything.
And you can bet there is some yahoo running around with a report on how he's saved us millions by making us all use one site.

I had a similar experience recently. I'm heading to a conference in a couple of weeks up north. We were late getting in the registrations, so I was bumped to an alternate hotel. We were told to mention the conference to get the "special" rate. When we did so, they increased the rate higher than the normal government agency rate.
