You can't simultaneously argue that they were in control all along and that they just seized control.
Groucho just argued that they made a power grab and seized control. Hence, they must not have been in control before now.
Groucho has therefore admitted he has been wrong every other time he has ever written about CATO.
The logic is inescapable.

I actually don't remember if I said they controlled Cato before. I probably did, though. Generally, I just mock its position papers for their total lack of integrity and factual content. If they created them because they believe them, then, they are stupid ideologues. If they created them because the Koch brothers pushed them to, then, they are venal ideologues. Or, they could be both, of course.
You live in a digital universe, unlike most of us who live in the real, analog universe. There are degrees of control. The Koch brothers have always exerted control over Cato. Now, they are working at taking it over completely and ending what little independence it ever had.

Sounds like the remaining members of the Cato board who aren't directly employed by the Koch boys have just realized that they are also on the block and will soon be replaced. I'm sure they are as unhappy as they are surprised to discover they haven't been pandering to the Koch agenda(s) hard enough. Bummer.
