i feel like that is more of a protective bubble he throws up. from experience he knows being that honest keeps people at bay so he lays it all out there and thinks "SOMEONE PLZ COME SAVE MEH FROM MYSELF!" if people judge him for the shitty parts of his life, whatever, that's to be expected. he can deal with it. if he were to share his positive thoughts, dreams and desires and got a negative reaction... it would be too much stress for him to handle.
being that honest wouldn't be such a terrible strategy... except for the fact he's so particular on top of that.

Well i think bonk could actually get these women.. He just forgets the persist step. He has also been invited to watch a movie several times (sex) but he chickened out.
