I always find it funny it makes people nervous when you quit a job (I get nervous too)... it's like, what are they going to do? Say "NO, you are staying!"?

I went in to quit my job once only to be convinced to stay.

Like SoO said... there is some concern depending on the role.

Will they try to trash you in the industry if you leave without what they consider "sufficient notice"?

Will they crawl up your ass looking for imagined files/code you walked out with?

Will they try hard to convince you to say, throw offers at you that make you wonder if you're doing the right thing? Are those offers REAL or just a cover to keep you on a few extra weeks and then can you because your bosses are pricks?

There are a few reasons to get a bit nervous about it.

I guess that would depend on your job, as IT I can work in any industry, and I know I don't want my next job to be in the legal field (the one I am currently working in)

Will they crawl up your ass looking for imagined files/code you walked out with?
This will probably effect me more, since I have access to a lot of stuff in this office... but oh well. Lawyers will just make you sign a non-disclosure agreement and move on I think.

I've had jobs offer me more, when I quit. In a polite way, I told them it was kinda insulting that you didn't offer it to me before, since you knew I deserved more. This I think will get me annoyed the most during transition time.

There are a few reasons to get a bit nervous about it.

happened to me once, too. They thought I'm faking it to get raise, but
when I brought papers for them to sign, they almost doubled my salary, lol

I eventually left later, anyway
