"And this tells us that giving the oil companies carte blanche isn’t a serious jobs program. Put it this way: Employment in oil and gas extraction has risen more than 50 percent since the middle of the last decade, but that amounts to only 70,000 jobs, around one-twentieth of 1 percent of total U.S. employment. So the idea that drill, baby, drill can cure our jobs deficit is basically a joke. "
Government subsidies for green energy, construction, and infrastructure does a lot worse than oil jobs

Canada has already regained all the jobs it lost during the 2008-09 recession while the U.S. is still catching up. Overall, Canada’s labour market is 179,000 jobs above its pre-recession peak.
Your housing bubble hasn't popped (yet).

If/when it pops it will only be a 10-30% drop. Unlike the united states of corporations, we actually regulate.

Money not exported for oil is money spent here. It alters the trade balance, which is good internally (and bad for some brown people overseas)

It isn't the sole solution, it is just one of many things that we should be doing towards that goal.
When the world realizes that we actually mean it, the price of oil will start to collapse as OPEC attempts to make our new exploration cost-prohibitive. That's always been their game.
a decade into the fracking and oil sands boom, what is OPEC waiting for? Your hope based energy strategy is going to have disappointing results.

I don't think the drilling movement is to create oil rigging jobs at all. Who would argue that?
The idea is that increasing supply will lower the cost... and since the price of oil is tied to pretty much everything, it would keep prices in check allowing people to buy and sell more goods. Or, at the very least, give Americans some money back at the pump which they can use to buy other things.
I'm not sure about the economic benefits... what I think people can agree on is that it would be a good thing to rely less on the Middle East or other unstable countries (like Venezuela) for oil. If we can get it ourselves, it will obviously be cheaper than buying from someone else.
Although I have to say I have reservations about tapping into every reserve we can get our hands on. Oil is limited, and as technology advances we may be able to better use that oil in the future (more efficiently and effectively.) In that case, it's better to buy now, and save ours for when it's really scarce. Buy cheap, sell or use when expensive. In the meantime we need to find better alternatives.

Please try to convince China of that. Otherwise, since that is what they are focusing on, they will own the 21st Century.
