i heard it was bad too so i put it off. it wason hbo last night so dvr'd and just saw it this morning.
its really good. its funny and fun to watch.

It was pretty bad, but not as bad as people insist.
The special effects ranged from bad to unbelievably awful. The story was stupid.
I thought Ryan Reynolds did an OK job with it and it was watchable.

Fun to watch but not a lot of depth. Been better to break it up into more movies and develop things more. Far too many movies have to change a bad personally into a good one in only an hour and a half. They did it better with Iron Man. They developed the story without making too many changes to his personality. People get wake up calls but it normally takes time to go from A to Z.

A lot of these hero adaptations have to find a way to work around the fact that the character is a one dimensional good guy with little depth in the source material. Green Lantern did the most obvious stock character arc that they all use and when you've seen the same generic character development pasted on to so many similar characters you really notice when it isn't done particularly well.
