they had a bunch of different races (human/klingon/romulan/etc) that followed clues in their DNA to one particular planet where they found out that all of their species were descended from one super ancient alien species.

I think the odds are higher that humanity was seeded by some prior intelligent species than that we developed entirely independently. I think humanity will spawn 100 intelligent species before we are done. If I'm right, then less than 1% of intelligent species related to humanity will have spawned independently.

Think about it.

chances are, if humans ever settle to the stars, humans living in them will given time evolve differently.

Not much doubt of that. Evolution is driven by mutation, and that mutation is driven almost entirely by the radiation we receive from our own Sun.

No matter where humans might settle, the radiation of the primary there will differ - either in strength or type or whatever.

Weirdness: If we colonize a planet with exceptionally weak radiation, the colonists there would be required to undergo periodic radiation therapy - or risk the stagnation of the race. Humans being exceptional at not taking generational issues seriously, they probably wouldn't bother. Within just a few millennia, they would be as cave men to the rest of us - trapped in an evolutionary cul-de-sac.

I enjoyed that one as well. It sort of explains why everyone is humanoid looking. Pure SF of course but I like it when they tie things together like that.

I really liked the DS9 group they went back in time and they used old ST footage. When the Kinglons all had a much more human look they asked Warf about it. He said, "We don't talk about that."

That was a mind blowing episode. A message in the DNA about the origin of all the species in the region and an explanation why they are so similar in design. BRilliant!

Not yet but some day that might be a reality. Technology is increasing at an ever increasing rate

Universes that we will make once we reach Omega Point doesn't mean that someone
else didn't achieve that already
