The neighborhood I grew up in was destroyed this way, as old people died off and their kids sold their houses to landlords or rented them out. I can see the same thing happening in my recent neighborhood as the housing market crashed and more and more were lost to rental property and bank rot. Note the bold, he looks down on people who can't afford to own and must rent. My parents could never afford to buy a house, my sister still rents. But then they never looked for help paying their rent.
Just my opinion though. I have been known to be wrong.
