Half-Life 2 sold so well?

It was neat I suppose but not outstanding in anyway, and not as groundbreaking as the original.

I remember a few of my wargaming guildies really liked Cossacks. It always struck me as a niche product, though, and, for that niche I would have thought one of the Rome Total War entries would have done better.

It cost 10 bucks. People will spend 10 bucks in a heart beat to shut their kids up for 3 minutes. At least I would back when my kid was a kid.

Like others said, the omissions stand out more than anything else.

No Call of Duty anything?
No Diablo 1?
No WoW product besides Cataclysm? Or Warcraft RTS titles?
Sims 3? Other SimCity versions?
Civilization?
No Battlefield besides BF3, which was only released last October?
No Elder Scrolls?
