I don't like it. When they retire your number they are telling you you are great and have done great things for the team. it isn't something you ask for it is something they bestow. If they gave yo a form I'm sure most decent people would say, "Nah keep it in play." What kind of egoist would say anything different? but they retire it because they love you. When the organization blesses unretiring your number how are you supposed to respond?
Pretty lame IMO.
