I've contemplated it, but never tried.

I feel like if you're going to kill yourself anyway you might as well try all the things you always wanted to do but were too afraid because of the consequences.

If it all works out you won't want to die anymore, and if you fail miserably... well you were on your way out anyway.

Never. It is the opposite of what I would do.

Went through a rough patch about 10 years ago. Went so far as to start thinking about who I would leave letters for - scared the shit out of me when I realized what I was thinking and went and got some help.

I'm glad I didnt commit suicide. At the time I felt worthless, trapped, and hopeless at my fathers house. Now I dont make much money but I dont have that hopeless feeling I felt before.

It's unfortunate that our only recordings were on cassette tapes and reel to reel. We were invited by a member of the Haskells, a new wave Milwaukee band, to do a track on a record he was doing to feature Milwaukee local bands, he said he wanted someone to represent the hardcore scene. The guy was such a pompous ass I told him to f off and spit beer all over him. I continued to do so every time I saw them on stage.

Not a good move. Then again he never made that album and the only local band that ever made it anywhere was the Violent Femmes.

I really should be a rock star by now, doing tragic "Behind the Music" retrospectives on VH1 showing my meteoric rise to stardom and the subsequent plummeting crash from booze, broads and drug abuse.

The Violent Femmes were great. Better than the Ramones even!

Everyone used to make fun of them. They would set up outside Oriental Drugs by the the Oriental Theater on that corner of North Avenue and play, particularly when there was a big concert. They were smart, that's how they got noticed by Chrissy Hinde.

But in general the punks made fun of them. After all it was all acoustic. WTF? That took actual talent. Talk about missing the point.
