I think the big stigma comes from the imperfection of the methods available right now.

In 100 years when 'after the fact' males and females are essentially indistinguishable and are kept stable through implanted glands instead of drugs? Almost nobody will have a major issue with it.

I sometimes muse about a male that meets a female and they fall in love and finally reveal that they both had sex changes.

This helps me understand that they needed to be the sex they became, and thus I appreciate their need and can accept that indeed they are what surgery helped then be.

Why would I not accept that?

While I 100% agree with the OP's premise...I have to admit I'm a little weirded out by "what I might find" under the covers as well. And I think it comes down to this:

That said....I suppose if I found someone I really liked, I'd probably give it the 'ol college try. I'm not sure I'd be able to get beyond my initial trepidation however to get to the "really like" stage.
