Went to my local GOP county convention yesterday as I was an elected delegate. I stood out because I look younger than everyone and I am brown/hispanic. I get a long great with the party leadership so it wasn't akward or anything. In fact I helped organize in the morning and was one of the persons checking delegates in.
.
Sometimes it makes me wonder though if the majority of the GOP is actually racist against a black leader. I mean Santorum's senate record matches Obama's current policy and Romney even invented american social medicine via government. So it is almost like they are OK with Obama's policies as long as they are administered by a white person. Anyone else feel this way?
This is partly why I left the republican party and tell them to lick my sack when they call begging for money.
Of course, you have the same kind of crap going on with the Dems too. "We hate Bush, so we elect Obama, Bush 2.0! Bush sucks but Obama is great because they are so not-different."

You can't undo damage like that overnight.
There is some truth to that.
Democrats voted unanimously against the 14th amendment and almost unanimously against the 15th.
The 19th amendment wasn't very fun for the Dems either. They filibustered and fought against giving women the right to vote.
I am having a hard time finding any civil rights laws that Democrats voted in higher number than Republicans for on the books.
Anyone find any?
It has taken nearly 150 years to get people to forget.
Protip: Democrats of those days are Republicans of today.
What about the Civil Rights Act of 1964?
Was that too far in the past as well?
The House of Representatives passed the bill by 289 to 124, a vote in which 80% of Republicans and 63% of Democrats
voted “yesâ€.
The Senate vote was 73 to 27, with 21 Democrats and only 6 Republicans voting “noâ€.
You will have a hard time finding Civil Rights laws on the books that had the Democratic Party voting in a higher percentage than the Republicans.
In fact, I don't think there are any.

It's almost, no; it's exactly as if you don't know how to read.

i want to say thanks to french-sounding-name-guy for being an active GOP representative.
it is appalling that we have such weak, pathetic candidates.
i considered becoming active too, but shied away from it for the reasons he mentioned.
perhaps, it is time to step up and reclaim the Republican Party. sadly, they will not
be able to recruit when their message is garbled in racist overtones.

I have even been approached by the leadership to see if I can start a republican hispanic caucus.
you should totally do this - i have a good friend I used to work on the Hill that was approached to do something similar at the local GOP level and very quickly rose up to state politics. you can definitely take the express train if you're willing to be their poster child for an interest group that is traditionally associated with the Democratic party.
