its only cool if you are close enough to the cars to be able to feel those V8s roaring down the track and smell the nitro methane.

Have you ever been to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway?
Lets put it this way. We don't wear good clothes because of the tire dust. I go with some hardcore fans and we stand right at the starting line in Vegas where you can stand....right at the starting line. Ear protection is mandatory. My friend knows a driver and the ESPN crew. The only way to be closer is if you're in the pit crew.
Do they call them pit crews in drag racing?
I don't really go for the races although that's fun. I go for the RV tailgate extravaganza. There are a whole group of people who drive their RV's around the country going to races all over. It's a fun time and about as close as I will ever come to camping. I'm renting a 28' RV, stocking up on liquor and food, and spending 3 days hanging out and having a good time.
It's relaxing. You'd like it. And the people. You should come out next race day. I promise not to climb up in the cab-over and rape you.

that sounds friggin awesome.
one of the guys i work with races on the semi pro circuit around here. he wins a little money every year and travels to tennesee and maybe kentucky and stuff.
hes got an 11 second chevelle. he tunes it down just enough to stay above the bracket where he needs a roll cage and fire protection gear. he doesnt want to butcher his car that much. its still a door slammer.
one of these days ill get out there and visit for that.
the parties sound cool and the cars give little sweeney a chubby.
