Twice now a cat has walked within 2 feet of his doggie door while both me and the dog were in the kitchen. Both instances I got my leg in front of the door in time but it's just a matter of time before that cat wanders through and I'm not around.

nothing, because cats suck and the dog clearly was acting in self defense

A smart cat shouldn't approach an angry dog.

Well not unless it's a smaller beta dog the cat can f--k up.

Your back yard? AFAIK you don't have a legal obligation to keep other peoples' pets off your own property.

No legal ramifications at all.


Same reason why if you Vet messes up and kills your dog the only thing you can do is sue him civilly for property loss, but the courts don't put much value on a dog so you won't get anything worth the time spent.
