The odds of winning are the same.
People tend to favor certain numbers (birthdays, anniversaries, sports numbers...) so while picking your own numbers gives you the same odds to win, it can increase the odds that you will have the same numbers as someone else and split the prize.

I saw someone on TV who has won like 10 times and he said no quick picks. Always play your same numbers. I have not bought lottery tickets in years.

IT doesn't matter. Picking your own numbers doesn't increase your chance of winning whatsoever. It's 100% pure luck, nothing else.
