Kaspersky is good. They are Russian so they likely write half the viruses in the first place.

Eset NOD 32 is also excellent.

I like Kaspersky. It's found a couple of bugs since I upgraded. Eset you can run free through your browser.

I highly recommend going ahead and paying for the full version of Malwarebytes and getting the real time protection, malware is much more likely to cripple your system than a textbook virus.

I'm cheap.

I use the free version of Kaspersky, and format C when that doesn't work.

Kaspersky is regularly available for free after rebate.

Every year I buy the 3-machine version for $60 and get a $60 rebate a couple of months later.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832355044

On sale for $74.99
Use code 'PURE32' to get 19.99 off
$55 rebate

Microsoft Security Essentials is free actually, don't need to buy that. Really low footprint on your computer (doesn't lag you down), integrates very seamlessly with windows.

Yup MalewareBytes you buy for Pro, I think it is worth it. It's not much either

Other things that help are PeerBlock (free) and just having a good adblocker and you've protected yourself from 99% of the viruses and malware out there
