If everyone has the virus and turns into a walker when they die, then wtf does a zombie bite also turn someone into a walker?

Maybe the bite is either toxic or they just die as a result of their throat being ripped out?
Here's another one for you:
What happens with a fetus that dies in the uterus? Does it go Zombie and start killing the mom from the inside?

Yeah, death from a bite does seem to take days, probably induces an illness that overwhelms the victim.

each person is already a carrier, but the virus is dormant, death triggers activation of the virus.
if you are bit, then the activated virus in the bite starts activating the dormant virus you carry. causing the illness and eventual death.
at least thats what I think.

The virus has progressive stages and the living infected host's immune system prevents the basic virus from progressing. The virus contracted from a bite or a scratch is a fully developed version that can kick an immune systems ass.

Virus is dormant. Bites make em active is my guess. Also as a comparison, non poisonous snakes can kill you with their bites due to infections setting in.
