In SWTOR you have to press the abilities on a hotbar. I guess I could associate sidebar keys with a crtl plus key function. However, Im not a fast typist and I find it just as easy to mouse over and press. I mean the cursor completely disappears at the edge of the screen. Any Ideas? I bought a new mouse Logitech Marathon and I have the same problem. Thanks in advance.

This is why in MMOs clickers will never be able to compete with folks with good keyboard dexterity.

I don't care how good of a clicker you are, if you were that fast mousing over your skills, you'd be that much faster if you learned the keybinds for them.

So is this a normal problem? If so, then maybe I will adapt

Yes, it's very common Mo.

I would strongly suggest adapting if you're interested in performing at a higher level in your MMOs... I know that seems like a silly thing to say, and it is, but take it in context - if your enjoyment of your MMOs is related to your performance, and optimizing your performance gives you greater enjoyment, then you will perform better by using key binds rather than clicking on your hotbars for abilities.

I don't know about other current MMOs, but in WoW, I used my mouse for most movement and some long range targeting, and keybinds for all abilities as well as strafing and jumping. I was much much faster than "clickers" as a result and routinely whipped them in PvP.

Also, in WoW for example, keyboard turners were just as slow as ability clickers were... not sure how it is in SWTOR, but yeah... WoW's not built like a FPS game where keycluster movement is the only/best way to do things...

i believe if you click your left and right mouse buttons at the same time, your cursor disappears

and a hybrid keybinding + clicking setup is fine. i do this, and i am better than anyone here at MMOs

I get this glitch now and again. Just click both mouse keys at once and it should bring it back.

Its actually more important to never remove your hand from the input device than it is to use the KB for everything. Driving with a mouse allows much better character control and situational awareness than driving with a KB. The best practice is to load the left side of the KB with the most used functions and then put a bar on the right side of the screen for extras you can mouse click on, rather than trying to reach to the right with your left hand or moving your hand from a mouse. This is as a right handed person, of course.

I usually won't go further right on the KB than numeric 8 or so, but I'll map all kinds of stuff to 1-8,CTL 1-8 etc as well as the lower left hand alpha keys.

Using the wasd keys to move (forward, strafe left, backward, strafe right) and using the mouse buttons to run, turn camera, and select targets was a game changing realization for me. Your 5 most important spells sit on the numbers 1,2,3,4,5 and are immediately available to you without having to stop running. If you have more mouse buttons you can assign instas to them as well to fire as you're running.

The A and D keys shouldn't turn left and right, they should strafe left and right. Turn with your mouse (hold down right click and turn). Left click and hold pans the camera but doesn't change direction or run. Thumb button on mouse turns auto-run off and on.

If you can embiggen your mouse icon then do that. I turn off other people's spell effects as that just distracts me. I lost my mouse a lot more when I had all spell effects turned on. Just too much on the screen to keep track of.

And ALWAYS ABC:

Always Be Csprinting!
