So,
I've realized that there isn't any MMOs that are (or ever will be?) out there like Asheron's Call. Are the changes in the last year worth it for me to come back?

Well my friend suckered me into trying WOW a few weeks ago and while although it can be addictive, I simply do not like the constant questing (complete 1 quest to start 5 more, etc). I also don't like every MMORPGs skill trees. I guess I just miss being in a world where I'm probably the only life/spear spec in a 50 mile radius. I guess I miss hunting drudge, I guess I miss my pumpkin masks!
I just think MMORPGS are all pretty much the same and not sure why Turbine or anyone else hasn't built a modern AC.  |

Because dumbed down mmo's like wow are easier for the general public to consume, and therefore make more money which is the name of the game.

Well good news is your not alone...Xu is Spear/Life/Magic D/Lore spec'd...I think he hit 275 just over a year ago! About 9 years from creation, hehe.

It really is amazing how dumb WoW is. The only addicting feature is the fact that once you start or finish a quest, 15 more pop up. So you're addicted to trying to finish the zone or whatever the case maybe. Strangely, all quest rewards are worse than any loot you one would find in a dungeon. In that case, dungeons are rather easy,as you don't have to go to them, you just enter a que and then the game makes a healer, tank, damage party for you. I long for the days of going to a new dungeon and watching people die from rolling balls of death, or falling into Harbinger's acid pits with no way out of the pit. :sigh:

I don't even consider myself a gamer but I can't get away from AC. Besides a few xbox games, AC is the only game I have purchased since '99

I hear ya Quren. I once took a 6 month break back when augs were first introduced, and then only about 4 months when CoD Black Ops came out. Recently I even bought the new MLB the Show, and I've only played a few games due to AC =) ...been too busy running all my characters through as many Lum quest as I can.
