For the Alliance!

Level 85 Human Paladin, 83 Human Mage, 80 Human Rogue... And in my boredom, a 70 Blood Elf Hunter (PVE) and a 70 Orc Hunter (PVP)

I play on Lightbringer, with my PVP guy on Frostwolf, but I haven't played him since the second expansion. My armory link is in my signature.

With the Cataclysm expansion, they made the game much more friendly to casuals. The whole 'you not serious' thing is gone now. Granted, you won't get the bleeding-edge raid content as a casual, but considering that only 5% of the entire population actually makes it to that content, it's not so bad.

I can see why people would want to play a game where on top of a monthly fee, once a year you pay $60 for an expansion that takes <10 hours to max out again......

Tried WoW, played 4, 5 days and didn't like it. Probably not long enough to give it a fair shake but it was long enough. I think I'm just done with any kind of mmorpg. Just my experience but when I played AC I was pretty much on my own in life. Had friends, a couple girlfriends but nothing serious, a job that I made a lot of money at but really didn't like and AC just filled the void. Now with a wife and a baby just don't have the time or interest. Job is gone but I start a new one tomorrow for a big, sleazy corporation doing work I will not be proud of for decent money. Wanna spend all the free time I can with my family but will still squeeze in D&D every other week with Leafcull's old master trader Grayson/Ranwar Al Xao.

I came back to AC a little ways back and was reminded at how great a game it is and was. 10 times better than what I saw of Wow (which was admittedly very little).

I agree with you TC. I recently quit WOW about a month ago. It was just too repetitive.

WOW's downfall, in my opinion, is that you're locked into certain class skill sets and you are only as good as your gear - personal ability and button mashing really doesn't make a difference in the outcome of a battle.

AC is still the "best" MMO I've ever played - it's just dated. The idea and infinite number of classes and specializations that result in you individually investing in each skill is priceless in an MMO, but the ship has sailed. If AC became Free-to-Play I would probably play it again (maybe make all the expansion content restricted to paid accounts) but the game is more or less an eyesore. And a grind.

What will I do now with all my free time now that I'm not playing an MMO? Going outside sounds like a nice change of pace.

Played Asheron's Call from 2001-2005ish.

Dabbled around with WoW, got Gladiator title and all that bullshit but the pvp system ain't shit compared to AC. Once I realized how much I missed a real pvp system I decided to come back to AC a few weeks ago and now I really don't know why I ever started WoW in the first place.
