FYI |
They are starting to hand out more than 3 day bans for ucming..I don't want to find out what happens after the week ban. I know it's against CoC but the loot is pretty much the only reason why i play anymore. If i can't do that anymore, I guess it's time to let my character die before he becomes perma banned.

with less and less people on the servers it becomes easier to control them and watch them. It is a numbers game. Think about it, Turbine releases an expansion pack, 3/4 of the people quit AC, then slowly they make changes that kill off 2/5 of the remaining population, then they make a big change in how the game plays and 1/2 of the remaining population quits. If before ToD they had 100k in players I would say they are down to less then 7k to 8kish left if that. So why not just slowly start being more strict on stuff and kill off all the bad apples so then they can just shut down the game. imo that seems to be the way it is going...i could be wrong but again it is just my interpration of the situation!

I have no idea about overall subscriptions, no one other than turbine does. But in game I have seen more people logged on, more people returning and more new players since the patch than since the summer of last year. There had been a noticeable decline in the fall, around the time Skyrim and SWTOR came out. But the last few weeks have been quite busy. Just last night there were around 15 people milling about in the marketplace, around 10 or so tradebots, we had a clan quest with two full fellows. While I know there were a few "ZOMG patch ruined everything /ragequit" folks out there, there have been even more who have resubbed to take a look and seem to be having fun. Lots of x-server trading going on again with all the new toons coming back (I have worked out writ trades for over a dozen GC keyrings this week alone).
I have no idea about the future the lifespan of AC, but I have seen its death predicted many times over the last decade...yet it is still here.

For whatever it's worth and no matter what you decide, your section on Freebooter will always be "Oompa's Cove" to me. 
I wonder if the apparent upswing we're currently experiencing in population has emboldened the +Envoys (and possibly would-be reporters as well), at least to some degree. For there to be more of us makes any individual one of us matter a bit less, when it comes to keeping the franchise solvent.
