I made level 118, name was Cloak 'n Dagger. He was spec archer/dagger/melee D. Macroing came out, and I was at first morally against it, and once its corrupting influence had washed away the AC we know, and I finally gave in and thought it was necessary, I was too far behind to be interested in leveling.

Really, 3rd party programs ruined this game, hands down.

This is opinion is actually quite retarded if I do say so myself. No offense gandalf.

I remember I was always underleveled in comparison to EVERYONE else on this game. For the longest time I sucked so bad at pvp and didn't even know about god moding and all that other shit until it had already been fixed even though I played when it existed.

I attribute my ignorance ig to my lack of maturity and ig friends (which I'm sure some of you will quickly agree).

I always had a few key friends that I could chill with but I was always that one low-mid level dude camping outposts and killing ppls new chars when they logged in.

Once I got on my feet and had set myself a goal to make a good high level mage char instead of sticking with my friends' idea that I should be a sword melee (because they didn't rly have a good melee in their group at the time).

I made my char I think mid-late 2006 and began grinding away in a remote sector of Qal'abar in a little dungeon with shadow lieutenants and other such mobs in it.

I ended up grinding that place from level 25 probably using a virindi wand until about level 80 without macroing.

I never had decal until probably 2008 or later when I joined Blood' to macro fiuns. At that point.

Macroing only accelerated my leveling, but I already was spending pretty much the same amount of time and dedication to level my char manually than I rly ever did macroing.

I remember when I first stepped foot in an EO and I literally never unattended macro'd, I usually would still manually hunt in there in a fellow with macroers simply to defend myself vs any intruders and defend the fellow as well.

I only ever UCM'd over night less times than I can probably count on my hands.

TLR

In summary this game was fucking amazing regardless of decal/macroing.

What ruined this game were the countless expansions that added in more and more ridiculous nonsense to try and string subscribers along and the addition of housing and other such nonsense safe spots.

edit: that and you can't forget that the player base continually shits on itself so that def contributes to the lack of returning and/or new players.

Holy fuck dude, you nailed it. I leveled up in wasps outside of...uh, fuck I don't remember the town but it had had a portal to the quest for the plume of a million colors or whatever the fuck that gay shit was.

Seriously, I'm impressed you remembered my name and where I leveled, that floors me.

Haha yeah i was pretty sure i was right about that one , i have a strange memory im good at remembering some things, i used to go to wasps , yep outside of stonehold, all the time because the portal room was fun to fight in and i got practiced at dodging inside the close area, which most people could not, so i had an advantage. plus, it was one of if not the best places to xp at the time, so there was always lots of action.

and i didnt necessarily 'permit' you to hunt there, but i remember your name as one of the people i didnt attack - if someone was in a large guild, and they were low level, i would attack them (this would often lead to interesting high levels trying to clear me out) but if they were going solo or with a good group, i would not.

Ya i always tried to be friendly toward people who were 'lower' level but truly playing the game to have a good time. I used to make low levels i found in towns or marketplace duel each other , gladiator style. If one of them won a few times id buff them or their weapon up and he would be the gladiator champion. Lol
