1v1's suck.
If all you do is 1v1 and not group fight then just uninstall already. Dueling may have made people more skilled but it stinks compared to group fighting.

From the start:
-I vuln him at 150, he runs because he doesn't have odds.
-I catch up to him, he engages.
-I start hitting him, he shields to avoid death and stays permashield until he's full on everything. At this point I consider the fight basically over, because if you're going to shield in a melee vs melee wtf's the point, but I'm happy to keep poking at him until he gets bored.
-He DoTs me and goes dual heavy, I jumpspin around him until big DoT wears off. If he's going to shield to avoid death in a melee 1v1, why the fuck wouldn't I?
-He runs off crying that my jumpspin is some terrible perfidy, but not before going all lulzy crying that my weapon is bugged.
-Multiple TCMs proceed to message me declaring that I'm cheating and probably using my Envoy powers.

I thought Tele was okay-ish before I read this... you cant kill a shielded target and you're gonna hug your loot gen weapon or cry? WoW
both are terribad PKs with uber gear and "tunnel-vision" mentality of "there is only one way to kill shit", if all else fails, execute /cry command
EDIT: after giving it some thought, rejected didnt do anything worong
shielding has been fixed (i.e it no longer breaks fights)...

To make this clear: I kept attacking Rejected until he ran off. When I say "the fight is over when he starts shielding", I mean I no longer care about whether or not he feels like he gets a good fight out of it.
Normally, I care about the person I'm fighting also feeling like they enjoyed the fight, win or lose. This is why I don't, say, start off every fight with spirit loather on a loot-gen wand, or use void in 99% of my fights even though I have void, or use an aegis even though I have an awesome epic BT heavy weapon.
If he's going to shield to avoid death, I no longer care to give him a 'good fight'. Doesn't mean I stop attacking him.

The whole "anything goes" style of fighting only makes sense if you're trying to hold specific territory. Since there's almost zero territory in the game worth holding now except for Baishi (very fun but you need a fellow) or outdoor macro spots (nobody ever looked back on their youth and said "man, I wish I spent more time camping reloggers"... no thank you), most fights are naturally going to operate on a form of mutual consent when it comes to tactics.
Last decent fight I was in was the night before last, an 8v8 of mostly UDs vs PBs... it was out in the open in Yaraq, nothing was at stake, and yet it was a hell of a good time for all involved. The fight would not have been improved if we had started out by spirit loathering and full debuffing all the opposing side's mages.
