I PLAYED DAOC BECAUSE ITS THE ONLY MMO THAT HAS 44 COMPLETELY DIFERENT CLASSES AND TRUE RVR ENDGAME CONTENT.


I NO LONGER PLAY DAOC BECAUSE OF THE LOW POPULATION AND THE GOOD OL' BOY SYNDROME AMONG THOSE THAT ARE LEFT.

Population really isn't an issue on Ywain!

I think some people are just to harsh on the old population. I recently came back from classic server and have gotten large amounts of support from the population about the toa gear and such that will help me out. If you ask a reasonable question in region or advice you will usually get the information in region or a private tell.

Oh, and I came back because war sucked.

I still play because this is the only game with viable RvR. WoW is a joke, if I wanted a full time job at home, Id have kids.

Good luck with that. Most MMOs now a days, whether PvE, PvP, a mix and what not make this the sole purpose of the game. Heck even WAR is all about gear. It is a sad truth and why I rarely even try MMOs anymore. The golden age that DAoC offered where gear meant little and it was about groups, skills and the realm is long since dead.

Sure, ask a question in region/advice and you'll usually get an answer. Getting into a group is a whole other story. There are times when I advertise in /LFG for 1-2 hours and don't get a single tell, all the while seeing half-full groups running around the frontier. It's quite disconcerting

If you mean 5000 online players on 1 server.. then you can wait a very long time, since the game server doesn't even support that many players online.. current max is 4100 on Ywain.

The biggest problem imo regarding this is nobody is willing to invite. You can have 10 people all lfg, and none of them will invite someone else. That's understandable in a way, but at the same time...sometimes you just have to start the group if you want it.

the pugging thing is an issue

i recall one day we needed a paladin, so we asked /reg since no one wanted to play theirs. we got a rr8 ml10 temped pally who will rename anon, all he did was talk like a 6yr old in vent wouldn't assist, wouldn't peel would go off and chase soloers into keeps and cry when over extended and wouldn't get heals.


we dropped him and looked for a new paladin, there was only 1 in /reg asking for grp.


he was ml 3 in ToA rog gear and had a RoG wep. i gave him a fsls and was ecstatic since his own guild never really helped him at all. had one of those old school giant shields with his guilds emblem on it. and best of all was an avalonian. we though he was trolling us, we got him in vent and was the nicest guy ever.


now we got to rvr and was pretty much the definition of an assist monkey (a good thing) he didn't do anything ground breaking, he slammed shit. twisted his chants pretty well. peeled when we needed them. and we had a 60ish k run in about 2 hours which isn't bad.


this game is like a giant clique its hard for new players or old players who have never really 8 manned to get into pugs because they dont know how to play. its amazing that is a 9 yr old game and people still dont know how to effectively play.


which more speaks to the level of game daoc is rather than the talent of the player i think.
