So I know everyone has differen tastes, just curious on some of your thoughts on being a career battlegrounder. Whether you do it, or not, and why.

I'm recently returned. I used the 14 day trial in October and despite transferring my old chars to the new cluster, I started a new char so I could reacquaint myself with the game. I've been having fun even just leveling, so I resubscribed. Even used a free trial on my old bot account, and am running 2 accounts now.

My old guild is gone, basically, so I joined a new one, they've been super great, helping me, answering questions, and fun to chat with.

Anyway, my dudes 45 now, and I've got a template worked out, starting acquiring stuff for it already, pieces here and there. Farming some glass, etc, etc. Looking all the stuff I have to do to get ML's, artifacts, slayer gear, etc, etc. Then having to rely on finding groups to RvR with at 50, it all sounds somewhat intimidating, to be honest. I appreciate that they've made everything so easy to buy/farm now, but it's still a lot to do when you only have about 1.5 plat to your name, and don't want to spend hours farming with the little bit of free time you have.

I got to talking with one of my guild officers last night, and despite having several 50's and even a decently ranked main, he primarily RvR's in Molvik. Has a bot there, and a whole selection of geared out level 39's to play with. He really enjoys that particular aspect of the game. He loves it. This is actually pretty common for other members of my guild too.

This got me thinking about doing just that myself. I've always thoroughly enjoyed Thidranki, and I have a couple toons there now even. I've never really bothered to really template them out or anything, right now I'm just using the aurulite gear. I've noticed you can get some pretty decent templates going at level 39 though.

I will probably take this new char to 50, and try some RvR with him, but I'm really considering rolling up some 39's, and just spending more time in Molvik. Do a lot of people do this these days, or is my guild more in the minority?

Obviously everyone's opinions vary, but I'm just looking for what you like to do. I'll have to try it out and see if I like it enough to keep doing it or not, but I'm definitely going to give Molvik a try (I leveled right through it with this char, anxious to get to 50). I'm just not certain I want to go all out for level 50 RvR anymore like I used to.

Molv is like the final stop before toa/ml's kick in. You can see why its popular

There's usually enough action in molvik to go around; plus it helps get the basics of templating down for your big boy rvr toons.

I find Molvik fun enough to have a few permanent molvik toons/bots etc.

Thid is really starting to become a letdown to me but still I have a thid toon or two that is permanently affixed to the BG. It goes without saying that a bot for any BG you plan on frequenting is high on the priority list.

I've been finding a few skirmishes even in Killaloe (15-19) so I do have a killaloe character, but don't expect constant action if you roll one up. Lots of levelers getting ready to go into thid though...

I have a good enough time to warrant keeping these characters (and bots) around and I often find the BGs a refreshing change when RvR becomes stale.

Just my experience...

I suppose it's very common to keep some chars in battlegrounds, for when 50 RvR is stale... I guess what I'm considering, is more like abandoning 50 RvR altogether, and using my 50's for PvE content, but otherwise keeping RvR exclusive to BG's.

Not that I would be precluded from changing my mind at any time and playing my 50's in NF, or leveling a Molvik toon to 50. Just curious if there are others that keep their RvR exclusive to BGs?

Anyway, thanks for the $0.02.

I've been playing Thid/Molvik almost exclusively now for the last 4 years. I just can't seem to take the stress of temp out a lvl 50, sitting there waiting for a grp, waiting for action. Then having Mythic nerf your gear.

I don't really even belong to a guild anymore. I just log on and off when I feel like it. If I want to play for an hour I can nobody ask if I can help farm/quest/epic.

Toons can't really get nerfed at lvl 24.

Plus I never tire of watching some lvl 20 in Epic armor(lvl 50) just go fo it.

I guess I would say most of the fun, none of the disappointment.

I play BGs exclusively for the fast action. Too much waiting around in NF for my taste. Haven't had fun in 50 RvR since Classic when there were just tons of 8mans on the island every night. It's disappointing to think I may never experience that game again.

Really wish they would come out with that Gaheris BG. The fast action of a BG, combined with the ability to fight anything and everything, and the highest level of play is like a dream come true. Granted, I'm sure the first few months would be a total mess, but I see great potential when things cool down.

Ever since Mythic implemented the /xp off and /rp off commands, I've never left the BGs (DB, Killaloe, Thid, Molvik) for my RvR fix. I only have my 50s to support my BG toons.

There are several reasons for this -

1) I usually don't have a whole lot of time to play. I can log in and get immediate RvR action from any of the BGs.

2) No matter how long I am away from DAoC, I can always log in a BG toon with the confidence that my template is still viable.

3) The amount of time to level/template a new BG char is nothing compared to a 50, considering I'm almost always solo.

4) No purge (pre-Molvik BGs)

edit: 5) The lag in NF/Lab makes me want to punch kittens.

That's basically it. I'm lazy, I don't feel like farming for hours for a gd template, and I have DAoC ADD.

I never really thought about #4, and I haven't experienced #5, but basically this sums up exactly why I'm planning on going this route myself. #1 & #3 especially... I just don't have a lot of time to play these days.
