Did i say this was happening for sure? Nope dont believe so. I said it was a rumor, read the title. Believe it or not i really could care less, just posting what i heard. I got it from a guy who got it from THE dude. So i say its a rumor. EA doesnt want anymore let-downs so they arent sure on either a re-vamped or a daoc2 or maybe not even either. Thats what i was told. Now you know it

From a business standpoint, I can see "No more let-downs" as correct.
EA Mythic will probably have to work on something that was designed by another game software studio, or be allowed to work on a completely new design, if the new design is feasible enough.
Right now, EA Mythic could cash in on an DAoC Origins project by getting some people in there to rig DAoC to have an Origins server that players can connect to. The amount of money would range from trivial to "who knows" but it wouldn't be a lot. It would at least serve to strengthen Mythic's trust with the players that they lost from expansions, and hey, free content. More dedication to their fans.
A revamped Dark Age of Camelot can happen if EA Mythic separates from EA, becomes an independent game studio, and all the original Dark Age of Camelot developers return with the rights and property to the game, or at least software engineers that are thrilled by the idea of revamping Dark Age of Camelot, because a revamped DAoC 1 only would serve to show how awesome Mythic's dedication has been to their current fans like an Origins server would.
A Dark Age of Camelot 2 could become feasible after EA Mythic creates something else completely new, because while a DAoC 2 could make money, the risk of it is too great. EA most likely wants to see very low risk. I can see Mythic wanting a 2nd chance to show the world that they can do better than Warhammer.
On wikipedia, it says Mythic was founded in the mid 90s, and I guess Dark Age of Camelot came out around 1999-2000. So it's about a 10 to 15 year old game company. Surely it can run a lot longer than 15 years. I know I would like to see it run longer.
