Not sure if you've ever tried to work on trouble tickets with communications companies but they tend to drag their feet like no one's business. It took over 6 weeks one time to resolve a bad line at a local 911 center because AT&T wouldn't admit that the problem was on their end.

I never have worked in that field , I was in structural steel for years in San Francisco tho and as a CFO, and I do know that communication and information during any type of problem lets the client know a solution is being worked on to keep them updated at all times, as its their money and time being spent.
Its just good PR
